Find your library books, turn them in, win a popsicle party for your class!!

Mrs. TK’s 8th Grade Science students have been diving into physics—exploring force and motion, energy transfer, and how forces interact during collisions. To bring their learning to life, students took on an exciting engineering challenge!
Wearing their “engineering caps,” they designed and built protective “helmets” to keep a “head and brain” (a plastic Easter egg filled with beans 🥚) safe during impact. Students had to follow specific criteria and constraints, including size and material limits, while creating their designs.
We had 5 unique prototypes, and after testing and improving them in class, all 5 successfully protected their “brains” from a 2-meter drop—impressive! But our students were ready to think bigger…
With a little help from Dave, we took the challenge to the roof! After the ultimate drop test, 2 out of the 5 designs survived the fall—what an incredible demonstration of engineering, problem-solving, and perseverance!
Way to go, 8th graders! 👏

Happy Administrative Professionals Day! At SKS, we all know that we wouldn't experience even half of our success without these two! We are so grateful for their organization, knowledge and their calm in the chaos! We love you Christy and Renee!

From Coach Schuman: We brought a lot of hardware home from our first meet of the year! All of our returners set new personal bests, and Isaiah broke both the 100 meter hurdle and 100 meter dash 6th/7th grade boys records. Both teams finished 4th overall.
Meet was in Aurora.

Who will win a popsicle party? Check your bedrooms, vehicles, backpacks and under the sofa for the books you checked out from the library! Return them to help your class win!

It's that time of year again- end of year testing. Please take note of the dates and review the test taking tips.

So much fun at our 3rd qtr assembly. The middle school boys played the girls volleyball. The boys won the A game and the girls won the B game! Congratulations to Ms. Coenen and Ms. Renee for be recognized as outstanding staff!

Another SKS team won the opportunity to play in post season playoffs! The Esports team won a 6 set thriller against John Evans MS in Mario Kart this week! They finished the MOSEF regular season with a 6-1 record. The playoff bracket will come out in the next day or two.

We are incredibly proud of two of our talented archers who represented our school at the Missouri State Archery Championships in Branson on March 19th.
Competing among more than 3,500 archers from across the state, Emilie Davis (8th grade) shot a score of 226, and Isaiah Darbro (7th grade) shot a score of 178.
This is a huge accomplishment, and we are very proud of the way they represented Shell Knob School on the state stage.

Don't miss this evening!

See you tonight!

Last week, Mrs. Crain and Mr. Ferguson made their way to the state Capital in Jefferson City. While there, they met up with teachers from Mt. Vernon. They were supposed to meet with area legislators to discuss harmful education bills that are currently being proposed in the House and Senate. They also sat in on the general assembly.

Spring pictures this week!

Coming soon!

Today is School Librarian Appreciation Day. We are blessed to have 2 amazing ladies that help make library time one of the favorite enrichment classes. Thank you Mrs. Parker and Ms. Angie!

6th grade visited Harter House for a career field trip. They learned there are many different types of jobs that fall under different career paths in a grocery store. For example, a creative job is decorating cakes. There are also jobs like meat cutters, shelf stockers, and cashiers that use different skills and interests.

Kindergarten practicing data collection and analyzing.

Two opportunities for involvement this week.

Such great talent!
