2nd grade class

Shell Knob students enjoyed celebrating Dr. Suess's birthday on Monday, the 2nd of March.  Throughout the day, Kindergarten through second grade students rotated through 3 stations. In the kindergarten room, students read the book “Green Eggs and Ham.” This book was the inspiration behind students cooking their own green eggs and ham.  Some liked it, some did not!  Many students were surprised how the food coloring did not change the taste at all.  Inthe first grade room, students read “The Cat in the Hat.”  After hearing the book, they were given cups and index cards to create the tallest tower! This took some cooperation and problem solving skills.  Finally, in the second grade room, students read “The Lorax.” This prompted great discussions on peoples influence in our world. Students talked about the destruction of trees and animal habitats, creating awareness of our responsibility to nature.  To finish the discussion, students created their own Truffula tree!
