wrapping gifts

This year, Shell Knob Schools National Junior Honor Society is the largest it has been in 16 years, according to middle school science teacher Mrs.TK, sponsor. Mrs. TK has been the sponsor since 2014.  NJHS is not just any club, the criteria to qualify is fairly competitive. Students not only have to maintain As and Bs in all classes, but they complete an application process and are evaluated by the committee on the 5 pillars of NJHS: service, scholarship, citizenship, leadership, and character.

This year, NJHS served for the Veterans Day recognition, Santa's Workshop at the Methodist Church, and they will serve at the 8th grade promotion night. One of the favorite service opportunities is with the Alliance of Church's "Share your Christmas" food drive event.  Students partnered with an adult volunteer, and organized food items for 87 families who signed up this year.

During Santa's Workshop, students spent the day assisting local children in picking out the perfect Christmas gifts for their families and then carefully wrapping them up! Seeing the smiles on everyone's faces was truly a heartwarming experience.

SKS is so incredibly proud of these students and their commitment to service. They are a compassionate, dedicated group of young people this year!
