The 8th grade students of Shell Knob School recently took a field trip to Joplin. There, they experienced hands-on education in the construction industry. Students experienced welding, construction, architecture and many other aspects of the industry. This program was developed in 2016 in Springfield Missouri by a collaborative effort of non-profit trade associations, private companies, educational institutions and labor unions. Companies and construction industry employers came together after much concern on the lack of trained laborers entering the workforce. They developed the program to show students all of the many different ways to be involved in construction and it has now gone nationwide. Read more about this amazing program at buildmyfuture.net.
