Shell Knob School has a new Kindergarten teacher, Mr. Dean Ferguson. Mr. Ferguson answered a few questions to help us get to know him better.
How long have you been in education? I have been in education for a total of 11 years; 6 years in public education and 5 years in private education. Previously I have taught preschool, kindergarten, fifth grade and ran Noah's Ark Daycare as their Director.
Why did you choose education? I chose education because I had so many teachers and adults make a lasting impact on my life and I wanted to give back to the children in the same way. I want to be a positive role model and influence on their lives and help cheer them on during their path to success in and outside the classroom!
What is your highest degree? I am a nerd and would be in school my entire life if I could! The highest degree I currently have is a Specialist in Educational Administration.
What was your favorite subject in school? My favorite subject in school is math! There are many different wants to get the same answer and if you can explain the process and repeatedly repeat the process to achieve the same answer, math is just a choose your own journey to the right answer using knowledge you already have!
What is your favorite way to spend your free time? My favorite thing to do in my free time is to spend time with friends and family while riding trails and taking road trips in my jeep!
Do you have any pets? I have 2 pets....a mini dachshund (Charli) and a basset hound (Marli).
Do you have any hobbies? I love fishing, playing softball and anything around water or the outdoors!
