April 8th was Capital day for the state of Missouri. Several educators from across the state made their way to the Capitol in Jefferson City to discuss important legislation that will affect education. Shell Knob School Superintendent Dr. Chris Conyac and first grade teacher Rhonda Wheeler made the trip to represent Shell Knob. While they were there, they met with Senator Mike Moon and Representative Scott Cupps. In the two meetings, they discussed how open enrollment would affect Shell Knob and encouraged both politicians to really look into the pros and cons of the proposed bill. Dr. Conyac and Mrs. Wheeler also sat in on a few minutes of the House meeting on the Capital floor. While observing, they got to watch the opening ceremonies and recite the Pledge of Allegiance with the Representatives. The Capitol grounds were covered in beautiful, blooming tulips. Overall, it was a good visit and hopefully progress is being made.
