Shell Knob School Honors Local Veterans
Shell Knob School held a Veteran’s’ breakfast on November 11, 2021.  The middle school students and Mr. Hurd decorated the gym lobby in red, white, and blue to honor the men and women who fought for our country. Breakfast was a potluck with food provided by teachers, staff, administration, and the FACS class. The veterans were served by students from the various leadership teams at Shell Knob Middle School.
Following
breakfast, David Atkinson, from the local VFW awarded the winners of the Patriot’s Pen essay competition. Every year 6th-8th grade are given a theme to help develop their understanding of being an American.  The essay’s theme this year was; How can I be a Good American? The winners of this year’s competition were 1st place; Amberlee Shipman, and 2nd place; Abi Gibbons. The essays are being sent on to the next level of competition, so wish them luck.

Upon completion of the awards presentation, there was a parade of cars where students’ pre-school-8th grade held up signs and posters they created and waved to the veterans. SKS wishes to thank all veterans for their service to our great nation.
