Dr. Shelly Fransen

Dr. Fransen

Dr. Shelly Fransen grew up driving a John Deere tractor and a wheat truck on a farm in north central Kansas. Dr. Fransen received a Bachelor of Science from Friends University in Wichita, a Masters in Curriculum from Wichita State University, a Masters in Educational Administration

from William Woods, a Specialist in Education Administration from Missouri State University, and a Doctorate in Educational Administration from Lindenwood University.

Dr. Fransen has been married to her husband Mike for 37 years. Dr. Fransen has 2 daughters, Michaela, and Jessica. Jessica and her husband Michael have provided Dr. Fransen, or should we say “MIMI” with two little red-haired grandsons, Micah and Caleb who always have a hug for
“Mimi”. Dr. Fransen enjoys spending time with her family and especially enjoys taking her grandsons to the beach. Dr. Fransen is active in her church and enjoys singing for her church family.

Dr. Fransen came to Shell Knob School District in 2005. She had previously taught 9 years in Kansas and 10 years in Hollister, Missouri before making the transition to Shell Knob. Dr. Fransen served as principal from 2005 through December of 2008, as both Principal and Superintendent from December 2008 through June 2015, and has served solely as superintendent of the district since 2015.

Dr. Fransen is a firm believer in doing what is best for students. Over the years at Shell Knob Dr. Fransen has invested the district’s funds in new playground equipment and surfacing, a new wooden gym floor, new flooring throughout the buildings as the old flooring becomes outdated, and updating the Rock Building to maintain its integrity within the community.

Further she believes that what is best for students is their safety and being provided with the best educational experience possible. She believes that Shell Knob Teachers and Staff support the “whole child” not just the “academic” part of the child. Furthermore, she believes Shell
Knob Teachers are some of the best if not the best in the state!

During this pandemic, Dr. Fransen has been called upon to make some tough decisions, and will continue to make those tough decisions to ensure our students are taken care of.
