Welcome to the Jungle!

The Spring Book Fair at Shell Knob School is coming this February 21-28. The themes are “Lions, Tigers, and Books Oh My!” for grades K-4 and “It’s a Jungle Out There, Read to Survive!” for grades 5-8.  There are lots of activities planned to get books into the hands of our students! The students will be coloring a jungle themed picture to enter in the coloring contest to win a free book from the book fair. Winners will be selected by Dr. Conyac. Teachers will be previewing all the wonderful books at the book fair and writing recommendations for their students. Other activities at the fair will include a photo booth, where students can put on animal masks and take pictures in the jungle, guessing games, and a raffle.  In addition, a family event, “Breakfast and Books” is scheduled for Wednesday, February 26th. Parents are invited to come to school on February 26th and have breakfast with their child in the cafeteria and then go wander the Book Fair. Breakfast is 7:45-8:05 a.m. The book fair will be open before school and after school until 4:30. During school the fair will open by request. This year we have added some exciting new opportunities to get books into our children’s hands. The E-wallet. Is an electronic wallet where parents can load money in their students’ e-wallet so their child does not have to carry money to school and risk losing it. The e-wallet can also be used by grandparents, aunts, uncles, and mentors. The other addition will be a book fair website where parents, grandparents, aunts and/or uncles can order books online for students. We will be sending home e-wallet information and the website url with the book fair flyer. So keep an eye out for those because after all, it’s a jungle out there!
