SKS Middle School Learns about the Future

Shell Knob Middle School students are looking into the future with a series of career lessons presented by Mrs. Givens and local businesses. The semester started off with an overview with Mrs. Givens. During the overview, students completed an interest inventory to get a better idea of what type of careers might match up with things they like to do, their strengths, and school subjects they enjoy.  After that, each grade level will have the chance to learn more about careers available in Shell Knob. Some of these lessons will be presentations done at the school, while others will be field trips. The students will have a chance to see how businesses are run, ask questions, and what type of job opportunities are available in their community. The businesses students will visit are: Harter House 6th grade, Freedom Bank 7thgrade, Andrea Watts: Mercy Physical Therapy 8th grade, Maricorp 7th grade, and Central Crossing Marine 8th grade. The presentations that will be held at the school are: Dan Shore: Conservation 6th grade, Jason Hudson: Farming 7th grade, Rusty Rickard: The Fire Department 8th grade, Danasia DeWinter: Cosmetology 6th grade, Joel Givens: Law Enforcement 7th grade,  Garrett Barnes: Photography 8th grade, and Josh Graham: Construction 6th grade. The students are very excited about this opportunity to see and experience life outside the school walls. We are very thankful to everyone that made this possible.
