On March 5th 2020,  students, parents, teachers, and family members came to SKS to celebrate 3rd and 4th grades students’ learning. Mrs. Wheeler’s 3rd grade students presented their information on Missouri mammals that they had been researching. Students came up with research questions, researched about their chosen mammals and then presented their findings to all. Then they played two recorder songs from music class. “Perry the Sheep” and Walk Like a Mummy.”  Next, the 4th grade presented their research information about famous Missourians. Mr. Hobbs’s 4th grade students chose a famous Missourian to research and learned facts about that person to present at the gathering. Next, 4th grade played on their ukuleles. They played “Somebody to Lava” to the delight of all gathered. 3rd and 4th grade art was also on display for parents and family members to see.

After the Celebration of Learning, the Literacy Night began. There were many exciting activities for students and families to enjoy. The activities included were a family photo booth, Chika-Chika Boom Boom word trees, put-put golf, picture frame decorating, the reading corner, a scavenger hunt, tattoos, a sensory table, duck pond, and many more. During the evening, raffle ticket numbers were called for children to get a prize. Families could also go to the cafeteria and eat a meal together and get fresh made cotton candy. Every student got a free book during the evening and families could visit the Book Fair. The theme for the evening was A Jungle Adventure. Many thanks go to all involved to make the evening a success, but special thanks go to Mrs. Boyd who organized the event.
